| Pelikan Moon Goddess |
| "The Myth of the Moon Goddess"
is the first full redesign of an M1000 than we have seen in many years.
With more taper, a different clip, a new cap shape and longer twist end, this
pen is a departure from their well known design. |
|
|
But
some things remain the same. The big soft M1000 nib is still interchangeable with
any other M1000 nib. The gripping section with the same shape and the visible
ink supply are still there just above the redesigned barrel.
The
figure of the Moon Goddess floats in clouds on the barrel. Based on the Moon Festival,
the "Myth of the Moon Goddess" is depicted in raised gold against a
matte black field. |
| Notice
the roundness of the cap end and the elongated design of the Pelikan bill clip.
Will this be the first in a series of this new design? |
| With a darker background
the scans below reveal many details of this pen not seen above. Notice the crispness
of the gold work over silver. The pen comes complete with black lacquer case and
all documentation. |

Flowing
lines of the clouds and vapors depicted above establish the context for the moon
goddess. Made of vermeil, the matte grey air behind the clouds seems to recede. Anyone
who has ever enjoyed the Fall seasonal delight of moon cakes in your local Chinatown
knows something of the importance of the moon festival to this culture. At the
root of the Myth of the Moon Goddess is the notion of longing and desire. The
story is told in the accompanying booklet. |

The
M1000 nib is already semi-flexible. It can be made even more flexible for those
who can be careful with a delicate nib. Flexible tines along with a cursive oblique
tip can make a wonderful correspondence point. |
