off the barrel of this pen. These colors are as accurately depicted here as we

We are noticing a trend, if two examples
can be called a trend, toward natural phenomena; water and wind. The Pelikan Niagara,
released in early 2007, represents falling water, with rushing lines against deep
blue. Where the Niagara pen is cool, this one is hot, embodying reflected light
off moving hills of sand. | |||

The barrel
is made from lacquer over engraved metal which gives a new twist to the engraving
patterns that were widely used in pen manufacturing during the early part of the
20th century. Preserved by a clear coating that protects and reflects, this form
of guilloche represents the movement of wind on sand. | |||
