Pelikan M625 Sterling
Silver and Aubergine Pen
Pelikan has created
a sterling silver and dark transparent ubergine (dark purple) fountain pen. The
simplicity of this design is what keep us coming back to Pelikan
pens. The aubergine enamel bands are an art deco design, updated
for the 21st century. With bars of light purple enamel inlaid onto
a sterling silver cap, a sterling silver section, blind cap
and a rhodium plated (white metal) 18K nib, this pen is a good
example of style combined with top engineering.
Simple designs in metal are the hardest to
do well. Any imperfection would show. None are
here. The cap is engraved with "Ag 925" for sterling
silver and "Pelikan Souverän Germany" around
the lip. There is room for an engraved personalization on the
side of the cap.
The
M625 barrel is such a deep purple that it appears to be black.
When it is held to
the light the barrel shows a rich deep aubergine
semi-transparent blue.
This pen, at 30 grams, is heavier than standard M600 series
which weighs only 17.6 grams. The M625 measures 5 1/4"
long with its cap on and 6 1/16" with the cap posted. The
diameter at the narrowest part of the section is .39" and
the barrel diameter is .49". These measurements
are very similar to the M600 Souverän. Just like all the
higher quality Pelikan pens, this M625 has a smooth piston-filling
system, activated by twisting the sterling blind cap at the
end of the barrel.
Notice how the silver of the
cap picks up the reflection of the nib and section. Only in
this photo can one see a hint of the blue color in the inlaid
cap bars. The crest of the cap sports the Pelikan logo of the
adult bird in the nest feeding its young, carried out in the
theme of silver against deep blue.
Notice
the fine quality of the metal work in the picture above. The
barrel threads are crisply and deeply cut, but have a smooth
rounded surface which is friendly to the fingers. The flare
on the sterling section is beveled back from the nib.
This fountain pen comes with a single-tone rhodium plated 18K
nib. We can provide this pen with a Fine, Medium or Broad nib.
It can be outfitted with a standard two-tone 14K M600 nib as
well, creating a greater range of nib choices.
