For thousands of years, virtually nothing has fascinated mankind like the history of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Lighthouse of Alexandria was one of the largest of the seven wonders. This lighthouse is also significant historically as it was one of the first navigational beacons in the history of seafaring: surviving for almost 1,000 years before it was destroyed in an earthquake. |

| This beautiful and distictive writing instrument rests under a glass dome modeled on the historic appearance of the lighthouse. The Limited Edition is Pelikan's tribute to the impressive scale of this building which more closely resembled a colossal skyscraper than a slender lighthouse. | ||||

| The light source and the beacon were a giant convex mirror of finely ground and polished bronze that focused the light. In the daytime, the mirror reflected sunlight; by night, a fire of oil, resin or pitch served as the light source. On top of the tower stood an eight meter statue of a deity, it is unclear whether it represented Poseidon or Zeus. | ||||
