Pelikan 1931 Toledo Limited Edition

This is Pelikan's final homage to the city of Toledo, Spain. During the 11th Century, Toledo spread its excellence in silver and gold manufacture and engraving throughout the known world. The inlaid engraved gold ring of each of these pens has been hand-crafted in that fabled city.

This is an example of the attention to detail this pen has been given.

The gold-plated clip is engraved with the representation of a pelican's head and background reed bed. It's an enhancement not found on others of the 1931 Limited Editions: 1935 Lapis Blue, 1935 Jade, 1931 White-gold cap and 1931 Yellow gold, although they are the same size and have the same basic shape and design.

Reasonably small with the cap on (just over 4 1/2"), this becomes a full-size pen with the cap posted, at 6 1/8".

What many of our customers do is keep the original nib unit in unused Mint condition and purchase a second nib unit (#7 on our Pelikan Interchangeable Nibs page), in the 14K single-tone M600 size. We can customize this additional nib unit to Stub, Italic, Oblique, with or without added flexibility.

These pens were made in 2003 and completed the series of these retro production pens..

The nib in this pen is an 18K single-tone, available in Fine, Medium, and Broad.

There were 1100 of these made, the fewest of the entire series. This is the key piece in the series.

The Pelican-on-her-nest emblem and engraved "Pelikan" name can also be found on the 1931 yellow gold version of this pen.

These details show the two engraved images on the ring. As the booklet which accompanies each pen declares: "the Toledo is hand-crafted, each piece a true original."
