(Re-engineered*) |
| 2005 OMAS Paragon Hi-tech |
| Size comparison
The photo above compares the differences between the 2000
Paragon and the current OMAS Paragon HT. The new model has been
entirely redesigned. The length, capped, is 5 15/16"
instead of 5 1/2". It has greater heft -- 48 grams,
rather than 19 grams. The twelve facets on the cap and barrel remain. The rhodium plated
sterling silver section is where most of the weight of this
pen is carried. Even though it is more than twice as heavy
as the earlier Paragon, it has good balance in the hand. For the Paragon with gold trim, see below.
|
All that remains of the old clip design is the roller ball.
However, the new ball is more than twice the diameter of the
old one. |
| |
 |
A metal ring adorns the top of the cap and is similar
in width to the band near the blind cap on the barrel.
The roller has an
axle running through the clip and supporting the wheel.
|
|
|
 |
The band is partly
faceted in the old way and partly round where the laser
engraved "OMAS" is on the front and "The
Paragon Italy" is on the back. |
 |
|
Possibly the most dramatic aspect of this
pen is the writing end. The two-tone 18k nib is fitted into
a twelve sided section flange. |
| We have one of these pens with high-tech
trim pre-owned with its original presentation box. This pen retails
for $695.00. We are offering it for $465.00. SOLD |
|
| 2005 OMAS Paragon Gold |
| Gold trim is also available on this pen. Exactly the same
as the HT, the gold pen has a sterling silver section, marked
"925", plated in gold. |
|
 |
 |
The words "The
Paragon Italy" are on a rounded part of the faceted
band.
Where the nib of the HT pen is rhodium around the outside
and gold in the inner design, the gold pen's nib is exactly
the opposite. |
|
OMAS has made a one piece barrel, eliminating any possibility
of leaks. |
| This is a big pen with a beautiful nib.
It writes easily using its own weight. |
| The generous presentation box includes
a bottle of black ink, a polishing cloth and an owners manual
with warranty. |

Dear John...allow me to comment on the
"Omas" Paragon 2005/6 -redesigned- Wow!! It is difficult
to find sufficiently strong adjectives for the combination of
John's workmanship and Omas manufacturing. What balance, writing
smoothness, curvaceous letters, and on and on. To say I am delighted
is indeed an understatement. The pen's weight and balance reminds
me of a 'Pelikan', one of my favorites, especially the '1050'.
Indeed I really do like heavy and large pens. John's work is,
paraphrasing Omas, akin to the paragon of many arts and without
paragon in his own craft.... I sincerely thank you for the outstanding
service and wish John a good summer holiday.
Best regards,
Bill Senn" (5/4/06) |
