OMAS
360 Years of Imagination Limited Edition Fountain Pen
"2005, The Year of Imagination.
OMAS dedicates its first Limited Edition to all those who, thanks to their ability
to create the non-existant, have contributed to the knowledge of the universe
and its laws, a tribute to and, at the same time, a memory of the international
World Year of Physics, wanted by Unesco, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of
the 'Annus Mirabilis', the peak of the development of physics, its arrival and
starting point." Gianluca Malaguti Simoni, in the brochure included with
the pen.
Diamond engraved into sterling
silver, the marks on this pen are the formulas of physicists of the 20th century.
These include Einstein's theory of relativity, as well as quantum and string
theories. The surfaces are highly polished and, as we note on our Sailor 1911
Sterling page, with all smooth sterling silver finishes, minor scuffing can become apparent.
Although it can be seen on the pen when looked at close-up, it is below the resolution
of these images.
At 99.5 grams, this is one of the heaviest pens we
have seen. The piston system holds 1.2 ml of ink. At just over six
inches capped, this pen has a generous feel in the hand.
The very simple clip has an unusual
design. About a third up from the point, a blue enameled disk holds the pen against
the cloth of your pocket. The same color of enamel zigs across all three facets
of the triangular barrel and cap.
The nib, unique to this pen, is engraved with a grid-and-vector design. Available
in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, and Broad. Order now, as only limited numbers are available
.
The solid black African wengé
wood box makes an unusual display as the lid pegs into the side of the base.
