Omas 360 Snake Wood Fountain Pen

The Snake Wood pen capped, above shows a red flash on the clip. This is and artifact of our scanner and does not appear on the clip itself.
The Snake Wood 360 combines the triangular form and full size (5 7/8" capped) of this Omas fountain pen with a snake wood overlay. Omas has solved a problem that plagued their wood pens in the past. Because wood is an organic material that shrinks and expands with changes in humidity, it was vulnurable to cracking, especially at the cap lip and at the edge of the barrel. This new pen is banded at the cap lip and secured at the barrel edge, greatly minimizing this possibililty. Even though snake wood is hard and dense, and the wood is sealed with varnish, care must be taken with all wood pens to avoid staining the wood with ink.
Notice how different the color of the barrel wood is from that of the cap and from the filling knob. Even though it is cut from the same block of wood, this pen illustrates the range of appearance within this organic and variable material.
Wax will help protect this natural wood grain from incidental stains and hand oils. The change to the surface is hardly noticeable. If you would like us to apply Dorlands art wax before we send the pen we'll be happy to do so. ($25) Just let us know.

The fit and finish on these caps and barrels is remarkable. The milled wood surfaces beautifully match the metal.

The section is stamped "925" followed by a hallmark showing a star, "144" and "BO", all indicating a sterling silver casting. As with all polished metallic surfaces, this one will mar if not handled carefully. Notice the elegant transition between the wooden barrel and the gripping section. We can provide this pen with the full range of nib sizes, EF to OBB.
