OMAS Krug L.E.
The Krug LE is only available as a rollerball. The fountain pen has been discontinued.

Made from the oak staves used by Krug to hold their wine, this pen evokes the look of a wine barrel. Those with imagination can smell the aged champagne. A simple leaf and vine pattern is engraved on the pocket clip. At 5 3/4" long, capped, and with a barrel diameter of 5/8", this is a generously sized pen.

Without including the end caps, this pen has three bands, bringing to mind the bands that hold barrels together. Omas has solved a problem that plagued their wood pens in the past. Because wood is an organic material that shrinks and expands with changes in humidity, it was vulnerable to cracking, especially at the cap lip and at the edge of the barrel. This pen is banded at the cap lip and secured at the barrel edge greatly minimizing this possibility. Although oak is a very hard wood, care must be taken with all wood pens to avoid staining them with ink.
With permission from and thanks to our friend, Vince Grosso, who purchased the first Krug from us, we know that a few coats of Renaissance Wax will help protect this natural wood grain from incidental stains and hand oils. The change to the surface is hardly noticable. If you would like us to apply Dorlands art wax before we send the pen we'll be happy to do so. ($25) Just let us know.
Made in an edition of only 843, this pen will not be around long.
The Krug crest tops the cap.
The section is stamped "925" followed by a hallmark showing a star, "144" and "BO", all indicating a sterling silver casting. As with all polished metallic surfaces, this one will mar if not handled carefully.
The oak has the feel of new wood, with no varnish or finish between your fingers and the soft sanded open grain.

Notice the barrel like taper to both the cap and body of this pen. This is a shape departure from most OMAS pens.

Provided with a custom two-tone nib, sporting the Krug "K" in 18 K solid gold, this pen is available in Extra-fine, Fine, Medium or Broad.
We will not be carrying all four sizes, so it may be necessary to order this pen a week or so in advance.
Shaped very much like a bottle of wine the outer box holds a beautifully crafted walnut box, which holds this pen and its documentation.

Available in rollerball only. Retail: $1200
