The Italian Novelli Limited Edition fountain pen
is of very high quality. Manufactured by Visconti to Novelli specifications, this
pen celebrates 50 years of the Novelli pen shop. (Located at Via di S. Marcello,
21/22, Rome, Italy) This is the first Visconti fluted or faceted fountain pen.
Notice the visible ink view just below
the section. This gives a clear warning when ink supplies are low. The bronze
pearl, true blue and gold make an arresting combination. Capped 5 1/2", posted
nearly 7', barrel diameter 9/16", this is a full sized pen with a plunger-filler
system and very large ink supply.
The cap of this pen is manufactured
in an unusual manner. While the pen is still in cylinder stock, the cap bands
are fitted on. Then the whole cap, including the solid gold bands, is machined
to its faceted shape. As you can see, the result is a beautiful wedding of the
bands with cap. (I am told that the scrap plastic and gold is recovered by melting.)
The spring-loaded clip works like the 1920's Conklin: when you press on the top,
the clip opens. When released, the the clip grips the shirt pocket tightly.
This pen comes with its inner dark wood box
and outer box, all the papers and a CD from Novelli.
