This solid black lacquer Namiki Yukari Royale Urushi is the quietest of the Yukari Royale collection. Unlike the Urushi Vermilion, whose most unmistakable feature is its red body and feed, this Urushi makes a statement in black. The black color appears to both simplify, and amplify, the fountain pen's design. This black Urushi fountain pen shows the form of the pen most clearly. Black is the most unforgiving color to shape and mold as all imperfections show on this surface. Namiki manages, however, to create a flawless pen.. Its elegant simplicity displays the understated shape. Only the slender cap lip band and gold pocket clip complicate this silent pen.. (The gold metal cap lip is functional here as well, giving protection to an otherwise fragile part of the pen). |

This streamline and subtle torpedo form is a study in balance. Even though this is a relatively large pen, at 5 13/16" capped, people with small hands and fingers will find this pen enjoyable and easy to control. The traditional black lacquer surface is made from Urushi, the applied build up of resins in many layers and taking many months. This surface shows its age beautifully, taking on the wear of use as a patina. This technique, though painstaking, gives this fountain pens its deep lustrous sheen and has been used by Namiki craftsmen since 1918. |

Available with a Medium 18k single-tone nib, this pen which weighs an appropriate 45g, is superb writer; smooth and consistent. The pentagonal Namiki logo appears on the clip as well as on the nib along with a gold Mt. Fuji. This pen comes with Namiki's highest quality converter. (Please see our Pen Measurements page for ink capacity and comparison). This black Urushi also comes with a bottle of Namiki ink and a single ink cartridge.
