Namiki Yukari Nightline Moonlight
If you feel like you've seen the Namiki Nightline Moonlight Maki-e before, you're probably thinking of the Namiki Nightline which premiered on our website in 2001 (and has since been discontinued by the manufacturer). This Nightline Moonlight has a completely different feel. Instead of the busy purple abalone skyline of the Namiki Nightline this pen is quieter, with calming blue refractions of light from the steady threads of abalone..

Maki-e, the traditional Japanese art of lacquering, is used to apply patterns that are first drawn on a surface with urushi (sap from a Japanese lacquer tree). Silver and colored pigments are then applied to the painted surface while the urushi is still moist. The layering of abalone into the black lacquer on this Nightline Moonlight pen conjures up the image of clear moonlight casting its flickering, silver light over a dark rippled lake. Movement is created by the thick black lacquer semi-circles that flow through the abalone like a current.

Available in Fine, Medium or Broad 18k two-tone nibs, these pens, though on the heavy side, are superb writers.

The pentagonal Namiki logo appears on the clip as well as on the nib along with a gold Mt. Fuji.

This pen comes with Namiki's highest quality converter. It also comes with a bottle of Namiki ink. We suggest, if you use cartridges, that you order a box with the pen. These cartridges are not interchangeable with other brands.

The artist, Shinsai Sakamoto, signs his work, in red, below the title in gold.

A nicely designed softwood inner presentation box surrounds this pen.
