| This Nakaya fountain pen is made of Urushi, a material made from the sap of a Japanese lacquer tree. The process of collecting the Urushi (sap) and applying many layers of lacquer to this fountain pen takes three months to complete. | ||

| The Urushi process required as much as several months to complete. These finishes reveal a level of craftsmanship and attention that we have only seen in the finest quality surfaces. | ||

| We saw the hard rubber pens being cut in the Nakaya Tokyo plant. They were cut on a foot treaddle hand lathe by a very senior craftsman. He used hand tools to cut and finish these connecting screws between the cap and the barrel. | ||

site. Nakaya nibs run a little finer than most
Japanese nibs, like Sailor or Pilot-Namiki. The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakaya, the family name of the manufacturer is made
of solid 14K gold. Each of these nibs are suitable for our customization to extra
flexible (an additional $65 charge). The medium and broad tip can be customized
into cursive italic, stub or oblique points (an additional $55 for these customizations). |
