Portable Fountain Pen
Kikyo (Blue)

If simplicity is the highest form of elegance, this is it. A Nakaya fountain pen achieves greatness by virtue of its streamlined design, excellent materials, flawless surface and saturated colors. Shown here is the Portable (shorter) Cigar (No Clip) fountain pen in Kikyo (Blue).
This Nakaya fountain pen is made of hard rubber and coated with Urushi, a material made from the sap of a Japanese lacquer tree. The process of collecting the Urushi (sap) and applying many layers of lacquer to this fountain pen takes three months to complete.
This pen is 5 15/16" long and weighs 31 grams, without converter. This is a full sized pen with exquisite balance.

The Urushi tradition is historic and profound in Japan, where lacquer ware has adorned utilitarian objects for centuries.

Notice the flawless surface to the left. It is created layer upon layer by carefully building up and sanding the Urushi lacquer. The result is a fountain pen with a deep lustrous sheen and subtle color.

The Kikyo blue is a very compelling color.
