Piccolo Housoge Fountain Pen Shu Black (charcoal) line
The Piccolo is the one of the shortest of the Nakaya urushi pens. The name Piccolo comes from the smallest of the woodwind instruments. Shown here is the Piccolo Housoge Cigar (No Clip) in Shu with the black charcoal inlay.

Its base color is "Shu" and line is black (charcoal). An artist engraves a motif by Wajima unique "Chinkin" technique on "Shu"(red) lacquer surface. After that, an artist imbeds "Sumi"(charcoal) to the lines.

It is just big enough to fit easily in a large hand without posting the cap. (The cap does fit on the back of the barrel, though we do not recommend posting.)

This pen is also available with a pocket clip and is known as the "Writer". (with clip) seen above
This simple elegant shape with its turned tapered pyramidal cap and smooth transition between the cap and barrel, is an exercise in spare design. "Housoge" is a flower in the imagination of saying as in blossom in the paradise. Same as Palmet flower, it is assumed a magnificent flower pattern pronoun as a kind of typical arabesque pattern of Chinese Tang Dynasty and Japanese Tenpyo period.

At 24.5 grams without ink this is pen is not heavy and not light. The balance is just right
	The Maki-e painted converters are available for an additional $21. The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakata, the family name of the manufacturer is made of solid 14K gold. Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible. The medium and broad tip can be customized by us into cursive italic, stub or oblique points. This product has decoration (carving) for not only a cap and a barrel, but also on a grip section.

The heavy decorative rice paper, simple solid softwood shipping box and fabric pouch make a lovely presentation for Nakaya urushi pens. Sensible and elegant packaging have been a hallmark of Nakaya.
