Nakaya Neo Standard
Nanohana-iro (Yellow) Fountain Pen
with Fumigation-Plated Clip

This is the Nakaya Neo Standard in the muted yellow Nanohana-iro color. It is seen here with a rhodium nib ($50 extra) and a fumigation plated clip ($10 extra).
Notice the long tapered tail of the barrel. The is a subtle and considered shape that is hand crafted from solid hard rubber. It fits perfectly at the back of the hand and into the web between thumb and first finger. There is no need to post this cap.

This "nanohana" color has interesting properties. It shifts from a mustard tone under warm light to a green hue under cool light. As Jonella says, "it is a color that grows on you." It has echoes of military khaki and desert sand, but also has a "green" overtone that relates it to vegetation. The gripping section is a little brighter than the barrel and cap, making it a two-tone pen. These sorts of colors were very popular in the 1920's.

Nakaya Neo Standard Nanohana-iro with Gold clip

By comparison with the pen above, this model has gold nib and clip. Seen to the left is a Soft Medium nib.

There have been a number of pens with colors of this kind, including the highly collectible OMAS "Colonial Brown."

The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakata, the family name of the manufacturer, is made of solid 14K gold.

Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible (additional $65). The medium and broad tip can be customized by us into cursive italic, stub or oblique points (additional $55).

The heavy decorative rice paper, simple solid softwood shipping box, and fabric pouch "kimono" make Nakaya Urushi pens a lovely presentation item.
Our price: $650 for the pen plus $60 for the optional
rhodium plated gold nib and fumigation plated clip pictured above. Ruthenium plated clips and nibs are also an excellent choice of trim with this pen.
