Nakaya Neo Standard Fountain Pens
The response to this new design has been highly enthusiastic. One of our customers says, "This is the best shape that Nakaya has ever made." It only comes as a Writer, with a clip.

This is the first major shape change we have seen from Nakaya since we have been importing their pens. At 1/16 inch longer than the Nakaya Portable Writer the Neo Standard has the feel of a slightly bigger pen. This is because the cap is a smaller part of the overall length, leaving more length in the section and barrel. Because it uses a single start thread between the cap and the barrel, the Neo Standard cap is unscrewed several turns in order to open it. This becomes almost a ritual. The pen fits easily in the hand with a more generous gripping section and a long taper to the barrel. Posting the cap is unnecessary (and not recommended on any lacquer pen). A soft dome shape rounds out the cap and barrel ends giving two more opportunities for the urushi lacquer to "break" at edges and reveal the under-color. Please see our pen measurements page to compare the Neo Standard with other Nakaya pens.
