The Piccolo pen is short with conical ends. These ends are used to good advantage in the wear patterns created on the edges. As this pen ages, these patterns will change and grow more "natural," giving the pen a heightened sense of time. The idea that an object can be imbued with these properties allows for the acceptance of an aesthetic described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent and incomplete"
