Aka-tamenuri refers to the
color of this pen. The word Decapod indicates the shape. This
name means ten feet or ten facets. The "Cigar" means
without a clip. (The "Writer" model comes with a clip.)

The facets of this fountain
pen follow from end to end in a long smooth curve. It is a shape
that can be described by pure geometry except that it is subtly
more complex. In the end it is the eye and the hand that this
shape most satisfies. |

The ten sided shape has another
function. Because it is not round in cross section it is not
likely to roll off a desk. The yellow pencil evolved from a
cylinder shape to be a faceted. The Decapod gives facets an
entire new meaning. |
