Piccolo (Cigar) Fountain Pen Black (Solid) | ||
The
Piccolo is the shortest of the Nakaya urushi pens. At 5 9/16 inches long, it is roughly half an inch shorter than the Cigar Portable model. It is thicker than the Pelikan M600. The name Piccolo comes
from the smallest of the woodwind instruments. | ||

Coated in many layers of urushi resin,
this pen has is a lustrous deep black. It is also available in reddish red dark,
black red dark and other finishes. | ||

It is just big enough to fit easily
in a large hand without posting the cap. (The cap does fit on the back of the
barrel, though we do not recommend posting.) | ||
This simple elegant shape with its turned tapered pyramidal cap and smooth transition between the cap and barrel, is an exercise in spare design. This pen is also available with a pocket clip and is known as the "Writer". Because it is black, and the also the smallest size, this is the least expensive of these pens. It is also available in the full range of urushi finishes. The costs vary with the finishes.

The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakaya, the family name of the manufacturer is made of solid 14K gold. Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible. The medium and broad tip can be customized by us into cursive italic, stub or oblique points. See below for the basic tip sizes of the Nakaya nibs as reported off of their web site. | |
Super Extra Fine: 0.18 to 0.24mm. Especially suited for fine numbers and characters, suitable for bookkeeping. | ||
