Nakaya were not joking when they named this "long size." Capped, the
Cigar Long Size Black seems even longer than its actual 6.5 inches. | ||

| Since there is no clip on this pen, you notice right away the precise action and mating of the threads as you take apart the barrel from the cap. Like all the Nakayas, this pen is a pleasure to hold, and of course the size and lustrous black Urushi give this model a magisterial aura. | ||

Long Size in black. Although the pen has a ceremonial look to it, in hand you
sense this is a pen to be used. | ||
The Nakayas always seem to have little surprises in store for you-- here the nib has a strong curve, yet is engraved with a rather delicate pattern, featuring a charming heart-shaped breather hole. The effect is both modern yet invokes the fin-de-siecle era of pen craft. This close-up gives a sense of the rich color intensity that occurs on a new pen. But photographs don't do justice to the feeling of surprise-- how light the pen is, how elegant, how "right" the pen feels in hand, with its softly rounded, slightly voluptuous design. |

 | The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakaya, the family name of the manufacturer, is made of solid 14K gold. Each of these nibs are suitable for our customization to extra flexible (an additional $65 charge). The medium and broad tip can be customized
into cursive italic, stub or oblique points (an additional $55 for these customizations). Nakaya nibs run a little finer than most Japanese nibs, like Sailor or Pilot-Namiki. | |
