Nakaya Blue Wave Painting
Cigar Piccolo Fountain Pen

This pen exploits the skill of a master urushi craftsmen to create a surface that is soft to the touch and engaging for the eye.

Notice how the surface continues onto the gripping section as well.
Without a clip, the simple form of the Piccolo carries the texture of this pen with elegance.
Nakaya mixes some albumen into Urushi lacquer to make stronger viscosity. A special comb-like tool is used to scratch the Urushi surface to express waves. Because they are done by a master's hand, each one is unique. But as you can see there is a consistency to the wave pattern.

We provide a complimentary Platinum-brand converter used to fill this pen with bottled ink. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available - click here for details.

The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakata, the family name of the manufacturer, is made of solid 14K gold. Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible. The medium and broad tips can be customized by us into cursive italic, stub, or oblique points.
