The Ascending Dragon
Aka(red)-tame Gin(silver) bokashi
Desk pen & Holder

The Ascending Dragon Desk pen Aka(red)-tame Gin(silver) bokashi Ascending Dragon fountain pen Cigar (no clip) with tapered barrel is designed for using in the beautiful desk pen stand. This is one of the most spectacular pieces we have seen from Nakaya. The integration of design, motif and subtle color resonates with historical references.

This pen is outfitted with a rhodium plated (silver color) music nib. Notice the three tined nib above. It delivers a juicy and stubby line. See below for other nib options.
The Gin(silver) bokashi (gradation) on the Aka-tame (red) surface is applied under the artwork, a dragon done with Taka-Maki-e technique in silver color, giving it a metallic look.

Even though this pen is quite long it is very light, made out of ebonite, the oldest material used for fountain pen barrels and cap. The long tapered barrel and light weight give it perfect visual balance and a perfect heft in the hand.

The reflective nature of the silver gradation along with the cloud and pearl motif makes this a desk base of unusual elegance.

The Maki-e painted converters are available for an additional $21.

The Nakaya nib, imprinted Nakata, the family name of the manufacturer is made of solid 14K gold.

Each of these nibs is suitable for our customization to extra flexible. The medium and broad tip can be customized by us into cursive italic, stub or oblique points.

See below for the basic tip sizes of the Nakaya nibs as reported off of their web site. They run finer than their designation suggests.

Nakaya's regular "Writer" and "Cigar" models in 'cap off position' can also be set in this desk pen stand.
