The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar Ama-iro fountain pen is handcrafted from ebonite and Urushi lacquer, and comes standard with solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size.
The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone.
Nakaya is perhaps best known for the richness of darker colored hues such as Kuro-tamenuri and Shobu, but the bright, playful color of this Piccolo Cigar in Ama-iro adds a whole new dimension to the color palate we associate with Nakaya.
As with all hand-made pens, colors will vary slightly from pen to pen - no two will ever be exactly alike. Each pen has a slightly different interpretation of sky blue depending on the Urushi lacquer that is used.
The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter. Nakaya pens can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.
Though the full range of Nakaya nibs is made available, the rhodium-plated nib complements the cool tones of the Ama-iro finish.
Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen "kimono" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.
