The Nakaya Piccoloi Cigar Awai-murasaki fountain pen is handcrafted from ebonite and Urushi lacquer, and comes standard with solid gold 14k single-tone nib in your choice of tipping size.

The double slit Music nib is available at an added premium, as are plated nibs in Pink Gold, Rhodium, Ruthenium, or Two-Tone.

Nakaya has long been known for its repertoire of darker, deeper finishes, but the Piccolo Cigar in Awai Murasaki-iro demonstrates the subdued sophistication of the pastel colors that have now become part of the regular selection of Nakaya finishes available here at Classic Fountain Pens.

The softness of the color shows off the elegant simplicity of the clipless design. Each pen is made from hand-turned ebonite hard rubber, and then finished in natural Urushi lacquer. As with all handmade Nakaya ebonite pens, no two will ever be exactly alike.

The Nakaya Piccolo Cigar can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink using the provided converter. Nakaya pens can also use Platinum brand ink cartridges. Hand-painted Maki-e converters are also available.

This is a more compact fountain pen than the Naka-ai or Neo Standard, yet will fit comfortably in most hands.

The softly domed end caps demonstrate the aesthetic balance of the Piccolo Cigar model.

14k nibs are well-suited to customizations including Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, as well as the modification for added flex.

Though the full range of Nakaya nibs is made available, the rhodium-plated nib complements the cool tones of the Awai Murasaki-iro finish.
Decorative rice paper, a simple solid softwood shipping box decorated with Japanese Kanji script, and a fabric pen "kimono" are all included with this pen, making it a lovely presentation item. Sensible and elegant packaging has long been a hallmark of the Nakaya brand.

Nakaya pens are individually handcrafted in a process that requires a minimum of three to six months and often much longer.

Unless requested otherwise, each pen or nib you purchase from us will be carefully examined, tested, and optimized for your personal writing characteristics before it ships.
