Ink Removal
We have been asked on several occasions to remove ink from wood pens. This OMAS Krug had been soaked in ink at the cap top, where the clip came out, the lower lip as well as the section end of the barrel.
Although it took more than a week to finish the process, we were able mostly to remove this persistent ink. The blue masking protected the metal parts. We had to balance the removal of liquid ink that had dried in the grain using liquids without expanding the wood.
We finished the process with a coat of archival wax, which makes future ink spills less damaging.
