Can left-handers use fountain pens?

While there is a common perception that fountain pens are somehow problematic for left-handers, the truth is that lefties tend to love fountain pens - in fact, a higher percentage of fountain pen users are left-handed than their percentage of the population would otherwise suggest.

That said, there is one major challenge facing left-handed fountain pen users - in any language such as English written from left to right, lefties have to find some approach to writing that avoids dragging the pen hand through the drying ink. Most writers do this so easily and instinctively that they don't even think about it - our Left-Handed Writers page illustrates the various writing styles utilized by lefties.

Knowing what kind of left-handed writer you are helps John when he is tuning a pen for your individual writing preferences and characteristics - some seemingly small adjustments can help insure that any writer, left or right handed, can get the best possible performance from her or his pen.
