Q: What should I know about test writing pens at a pen store?

If you are in a pen store please judge only the looks, feel, balance and weight of each pen, not the way it writes. Some demo pens have been written with by any number of people and all it takes is one ham-handed individual to change the feel of a pen for everyone that comes after. There are a few pen stores that have excellent people at the counter who can distinguish between a nib that is in good order and one that is not. A very important factor in the choice of any fountain pen is ink flow but, if the store only allows you to dip a pen to test-write it, please be aware that the ink flow may be heavier than if you had filled the pen and blotted the feed. The best test of the way a pen writes is filling it with ink, blotting it and writing for several sentences. Only then will you understand the ongoing ink flow.

When we send out pens to our customers, they have been thoroughly tested and tuned to set standards or to our customers specifications.
