Q: Is it okay if there is ink in the fins of the tip?
Yes, this is normal and actually the function of the fins, to catch excess ink. It is particularly common when pens are mostly empty as there is then a greater volume of air in the reservoir to expand and contract with changes in temperature and barometric pressure.
