Q: How do I take the next step toward the writing style that I want?

Once you have experienced the difference with a high-quality fountain pen, it's only natural that all of the customization options appear exciting. However, when moving into an advanced nib, more customization is not necessarily better.

In the long run, taking customization one step at a time will build your relationship with your nibs and make you a sophisticated, knowledgeable user with a style all your own.

In other words, when you experience one customization at a time and learn the feel of each, you will be sensitive to how all of the features of the nib work in concert as you hone your unique lines.

If you think about it another way, you find that a set of customizations may not feel right or produce the line you desire, even after much practice. In this case, if you ordered multiple customizations, it will be difficult for you to decipher which one exactly is responsible for the sensation and effect you experience.

Also, some customizations may appear attractive but may not be practical given the size of your writing or the amount of pressure you use. For example, a very broad italic pointed nib, if used with a small hand, will close in the "e"s and make the writing less, rather than more ledgible. Another example using an extra-fine flexible nib with heavy hand pressure can result in scratchy feel, difficult control and possibly a damaged nib.

We want to provide you with exactly what you want, we also want to give you the chance to adapt and become comfortable with different customizations so that you benefit most from the adjustments.

"The idea is magnificent, that the practical application can enhance the experience when writing," Danielle says. "We want to get the nib and pen into the optimum position; there is a meeting point with the user. The user comes into the picture just as much as the nib they had in mind."
